Atkins Park - Lins

It was love at first sip….an old-fashioned whiskey cider on a plantation-esque porch.

As Atlanta’s oldest continuously-licensed tavern, Atkins brews one mean ale and is steeped in good down home cookin. I partook of the the Guinness Dipped Pretzels, Fried Green Tomatoes & Pickles, Drunken Pork Tenderloin with a pan fried grit cake, grilled asparagus, green apple cabbage slaw & brown sugar bourbon glaze, and topped it off with a Grand Marnier Creme Brule. If the retelling of the evenings plates doesn’t make you drool, you’ve lost your mind. I believe the phrase of the night was:

Yo grandma ain’t got nothin on this.

-Yours truly

Waitress was a cutie; knowledgeable, attentive, but not intrusive.

Menu was chocked full of fresh spins on your old favs (like a BLTP in P: applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, fried green tomato, pimento cheese in a pita *drool*). Every dish was cooked, crafted, and plated to perfection.

My only complaint is that we didn’t get to try the alligator!

Atmosphere, creativity, service, and taste added up to one awesome night. It was the perfect way to kick off the tour.

Lin’s Rating: 24 - after dinner lets set on the porch and sip a lil whiskey drank honey chile!
